Which auction length should I use on eBay?

Pastor Chad from JesusFreak.com asked:

I just stumbled across a bunch of old sports cards I collected in high school more than 20 years ago that now are worth hundreds of dollars. I was considering putting them up for auction on eBay, and noticed there are two or three different auction lengths, 3, 7 and 10 days, I think. What would be the best auction length for collectibles like this? Does it matter which auction duration is used, or do the final bids tend to be about the same for similar items no matter how long the auction is?

Because people usually sort their search results by “ending first,” it really doesn’t matter much. Just stick with the default and save yourself a couple of cents. :D

I don’t think it matters much. I usually like to list items so they end on a weekend, though. Don’t worry about the time – your buyer might be in a different time zone anyway!
