If we lived in a society that could tell the difference between real dogfighting and that crap that is sensationalized by the media?
Heres the dream: Dogfighting on ESPN…. imagine, dogmen from all over the world could get together, match their dogs and have a World Champion crowned every year…how awesome would the APBT (pit bull) population be? This would produce some of the best dogs the world would ever see and give quality entertainment to millions…people could have collectible dogfighting cards, and keep track of their favoritve studs… kids could wear t-shirts and bring lunch pals to school with a picture of the years Champion… this sport could rival the NFL and NASCAR… if only we lived in a society where people could think critically and analyze things for themselves… true dogmen could flourish and great canines would be made and honored… I have a dream….

wow… that would be nice. If people DID do any research on the subject instead of just say what the most recent San Francisco Chronicle told them to say… that is really the dream. For people to do RESEARCH before knocking an idea. There are TWO worlds to dogfighting people and only ONE of them is inhumane. The gang banger who LEARNED everything he knows about dogfighting from the MEDIA and hurts animals, kills them, tortures them and makes them fight should ALL die a horrible death. However, the ones who raise their animals lovingly, and only let them fight because the DOG wants too and to find out who has the most gameness (will to fight) for breeding purposes (yea, that means the animals LIVE and are rarely even hurt) should be allowed to host their matches on ESPN. I would bet anything that a LOT of people would love this sport once they realized what it was really all about. great question!

Everyone needs a past time, but if you really want to have fun, why not go back to the age of the Christians being fed to the lions? If you enjoy cruelty and unnecessary bloody pain, that should fill the bill for you.
Actually, I feel sorry for the pit bulls. They were bred, probably by people who feel like you, so they naturally attact and maul. So then the dog gets put to sleep.

Ahhhh so you would take the precious APBT and have it exploited and overbred by all kinds of idiots trying to make a buck off of a good ‘fighter’? Oh wait…they already Do do that. This is how certain breeds become ‘tainted’. 101 Dalmatians came out and the breed (from backyard breeders; not reputable breeders) went downhill and got very negative attention just because people started breeding indiscriminately to meet a growing demand for the movie puppies so sad when a breed is exploited…want to rethink your question???

i don’t like the idea of fighting dog…but the kind of idea u had is almost like…dog shows….actually it is the same as do shows…except no ESPN, NFL, or NASCAR stuff like that…dog shows do have champs…so…yeah….think of a better one next time..

It really would be great to see 2 dogs wearing boxing gloves beating the crap out of each other while muzzled of course to keep it fair.

maybe i could go with legal. dont know about it being popular tho. good luck with your dream, but judging from the average americans view of dog fighting, noone would be on board with it. nobody even wants to hear the arguments of dogmen caring for the animals or using fighting to enhance the breed (this was how the breed was developed!). but whatever, the same people flaming your idea are wearing shoes made in indochina. i wouldnt fight a dog of mine, but would be down for buying game dogs produced by selective breeding. i truly dont have any more problem with dog fighting than with the way livestock is treated, lab animals are tested upon, or third world countries are exploited so some XXXX can make a buck and drive a bimmer. as peter griffin says “XXXX you america”
